Northline has opened its new $27 million Darwin transport and logistics facility at East Arm with the company taking occupancy in late August.
The new facility, housed on a four hectare site, provides more than 14,500 square metres of warehousing and under roof freight operations as well as a new full-service workshop to improve the effectiveness of Northline’s fleet.
The opening is a major milestone in Northline’s 32-year history with the company founded in 1983 to service the Adelaide to Darwin freight route.
The Darwin facility provides a significant boost to Northline’s Top End operations with easier access to sea, road and rail connections through its location within Darwin’s leading industrial precinct.
Northline Chief Executive Craige Whitton said completion of the new facility underscored Northline’s commitment to the Northern Territory.
“Darwin provides an increasingly important gateway into Asia and is a key connection point between Northline’s global freight and domestic freight services,” said Mr Whitton.
