    Rail services East-West

    Recovery of the East-West rail line is progressing well, with the track reopening between Spencer Junction and Cook scheduled for 5pm CDST today, Tuesday 3 March. This will allow services between Melbourne and Perth to resume late this afternoon.

    The rail line between Crystalbrook and Broken Hill remains closed, impacting rail freight travelling from Sydney and Brisbane to Adelaide and Perth return. To mitigate delays, there will be a change to the train service path, along with the transit time, as trains will travel via Melbourne.

    We will continue to monitor the situation closely and provide further updates once the final portion of the track is restored.

    Before proceeding, please ensure your booking meets the following criteria

    Please contact Customer Service if you need to quote or book the following:

    • Items greater than 6m in length
    • A hiab or tilt tray is required at sending or receiving
    • Any equipment e.g. fork lifts, scissor lifts, excavators, bobcats
    • Un-crated machinery or equipment
    • Spas, vehicles, trailers, boats, caravans, etc
    • Any container movements

    Please note: Northline does not move temperature controlled/perishable freight

    Please review the following requirements before proceeding:

    • Freight items weighing over 25kg or consignments with 10 items or more are required to be palletised before sending
    • Engines/transmissions are to be fully enclosed in a crate and drained of any fluid or oil
    • All consignments are to be packaged in accordance with our Freight Packaging Policy
