With a background in Business Analytics and Finance, she was drawn to the opportunity to develop her finance and analytical skills in a fast-paced organisation while working with real financial data. Reshma shared her interest in the Transport and Logistics industry, her goal of building strong financial analysis skills and her positive experience so far contributing to weekly reporting and seeing the impact of her work on business decisions.
I applied for Northline’s Graduate Program because I believe that it offers the opportunity to develop my finance and analytical skills in a large and fast-paced Australian business. As a Business Analytics and Finance student, I was attracted to the chance to work with real financial data and assist with making business decisions. Northline’s strong presence in the Transport and Logistics industry, in addition to the structured learning and professional development opportunities provided by the Graduate Program made it a rather ideal place to build my career and gain valuable industry experience.
I was attracted to the Transport and Logistics industry because I strongly believe that it plays a significant role in keeping businesses and communities connected. Every single product that is used by individuals relies on an efficient supply chain which makes the industry essential to the economy. I also enjoy the fast-paced nature of logistics where decisions need to be made quickly and supported by data. From a finance perspective, it is an interesting industry because operational efficiency, cost management and strategic planning have a direct impact on business performance and customer outcomes.
During the program, I hope to strengthen my financial analysis, reporting and business partnering skills whilst gaining a more in-depth understanding of how finance enables decision-making across the different levels of the organisation. I also wish to learn from experienced industry professionals whilst taking on new challenges and expanding on my understanding of the Transport and Logistics industry. Ultimately, I hope to build a strong foundation for my career whilst contributing meaningful insights to the business and develop into a well-rounded finance professional.
Other than Finance, I am most looking forward to working with the Continuous Improvement team as a Business Analyst.
My favourite moment so far has been seeing how the work I do contributes to real business decisions. Being involved in the weekly reporting process has helped me understand how different parts of the business operate. Additionally, My Business Analytics rotation was particularly enjoyable because it allowed me to explore different areas of the business while developing my communication and analytical skills simultaneously.
