Seongmin Song shares his motivations for joining Northline

We recently spoke with one of our current graduates, Seongmin Song. With a strong interest in continuous improvement and a clear passion for driving innovation, Seongmin shared his motivations for joining Northline, the departments that inspire him most, and a standout experience that earned formal recognition. Here’s Seongmin’s story.

Why did you apply for Northline’s Graduate Program?

I applied for Northline’s Graduate Program because it offers many opportunities for growth and development, as well as allowing me to explore various departments. This experience will help me identify my strengths and weaknesses and guide me in discovering my ideal career path within Northline.

What attracted you to the Transport and Logistics industry?

The thing that attracted me to this industry is its vital role in driving Australia’s economy. The quote “Without Trucks Australia Stops” comes to mind when answering this question, as it shows just how crucial this industry is when it comes to keeping Australia moving and connected.

What do you hope to achieve during your time on the program?

I’m really hoping to gain as much experience as possible throughout all of the departments and understand their current processes and operations. I would also love to contribute to innovative ideas to help enhance existing workflows. I’m very passionate about problem-solving and driving improvements.

What departments are you most looking forward to working in?

The department I’m most looking forward to working in is definitely Project Management. My passion for transformation and continuous improvement perfectly aligns with this area. I would love to gain a deeper understanding of Northline’s processes, explore what initiatives are currently underway, and learn about their long-term plans for future growth.

What has been your favourite moment at Northline so far?

My favourite moment at Northline so far was when I had the opportunity to plan the warehouse relocation for one of our major customers in both Brisbane and Sydney during my rotation in that department.

It was a rewarding experience as I got to understand the complexities and challenges when coordinating such a big project. I also loved the recognition I have received from this project, as I earned the employee of the quarter award for innovation, which really fuelled my passion for driving creative solutions and improvements.
